  • Zingiber zerumbet is a species of an aromatic and tuberose plant in the ginger family that grows in humid locations. It originates from Asia but can be found in many tropical countries. Common names include awapuhi, bitter ginger, shampoo ginger (Malay = lempoyang), and pinecone ginger.

  • The rhizomes of Zingiber zerumbet have been used as food flavoring and appetizers in various cuisines while the rhizome extracts have been used in herbal medicine.

  • The Journal of Medicine and Primary Care published an article conducted by Hassan Kiani Ahmadabadi, Mohammad Reza Vaez-Mahdavi, Mohammad Kamalinejad, Seyed Shamsa Shariatpanahi, Tooba Ghazanfari, Farhad Jafari Department of Physiology, School of Medicine, Shahed University, Tehran, Iran regarding:
